5 Ways to Recharge Your Mind, Body, and Spirit

It's normal to feel like you need a change. You've been freezing for the last three, four, or even six months, depending on where you live. The urge to get out and do something different and exciting appears to be a universal experience. Even house pets and wildlife seem to feel that energy in the air—the need to break free from the confines of winter.

Put this energy to good use and do something to recharge your batteries and renew your enthusiasm for life! Here are a few ideas how:

  • Change your look. If you’ve had the same haircut for a while, consider a new style. Buy a few new pieces of clothing or great accessories that will refresh and update your image.
  • Explore new places. Chances are there are dozens of places you've never been in your neighborhood. Get out and explore some of these different venues. Eat at that little dive you've always wondered about; wander through the gallery that always has interesting pieces in their windows; take a weekend drive to new destination.
  • Try something daring. One colleague told me she went to a team-building paintball event with her old company, and while she didn’t normally enjoy such activities, she did it anyway and had a blast. Being knee-deep in paint gave her the confidence to apply for—and get—her current high-paying position. Push your boundaries a little; you'll be amazed by how much stronger you feel!
  • Eat seasonally. Eating with the seasons is recommended to maintain optimal health. Hit those farmers markets and fruit stands to incorporate lots of fresh, seasonal produce into your diet. You'll feel energetic and revitalized!
  • Host a “gratitude lunch” at work. Being grateful isn’t limited to the holidays. Sure, going around the table during the holidays to give thanks is always a good idea, but we should be giving thanks daily to the folks we see all week! Share a meal with your co-workers and take a moment to appreciate one another.
